Pre-Appointment Screening Dépistage pré-rendez-vous

Our COVID-19 Updates and Regulations

In March of 2020, we were all forced to re-evaluate our health and safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our office remained closed over a period of three months to respect the need to limit the spread of the virus. In late May of 2020, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario Dental Association, and the Canadian Dental Hygiene Association developed reopening guidelines in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer of Ontario to ensure the safety of patients and our staff

Our office has always followed strict infection control standards, and in order to keep us all protected during this pandemic and in the future, we have updated our protocols respecting the new guidelines. When we see you at your next appointment, things will be a little different.

  • At this time you must have a scheduled appointment to enter our office (no walk-in service available). This is the only way that we can ensure proper screening and physical distancing protocols are met.
  • We will ask some screening questions before your appointment and you’ll be asked those same questions again when you’re in the office. We will also be taking your temperature with a touchless thermometer.
  • We ask that you enter the office alone and no sooner than five minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
  • If a guardian or caregiver is necessary to accompany, the patient we will require for them to be screened in advance as well.
  • We ask that you wear a mask to your appointment, if you do not have one we will provide one.
  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the clinic.
  • Our waiting room will no longer offer magazines or children’s toys since those items are difficult to fully disinfect.
  • Appointments will be spaced out to allow for physical distancing between patients. That might mean less flexibility for scheduling your appointment, but it will also reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
  • You may be surprised that we’re wearing more protective gear – such as masks, face shields, gowns – than we normally do during your visit.
  • Staff are screened daily to protect all patients and staff.
  • Our in-office patient washroom is temporarily unavailable for use. Please use the facilities in the mall during this time.

Rest assured, all these procedures are designed to create the safest environment for you, other patients and our team. We look forward to seeing you again. If you have any questions, please let us know. To make an appointment, call our office at 613-742-0700 or email us at gloucesterdentalcentre@bellnet.ca
